Bamboo Bar & Restaurant at Bogobiri House located in the heart of the Ikoyi's Awolowo Road is named after the ancient birthplace of Uthman dan Fodio, a city known for its scholarly and artistic knowledge (which is said to have spread like wild fire through Northern Nigeria). This boutique hotel owned by Nimbus Art Gallery only has 16 rooms and is something of an exhibition in itself.
The décor of the hotel and the restaurant is stunning dotted with paintings and sculptures from local Nigerian artists around the country and offers a pleasant escape from bustle and hustle of Lagos.
According to Chike Nwagbogu, Bogobiri isn't just a Hotel, a Restaurant, for Events, and an Art center. It is a Marketplace. A hub. A home for everyone.

Arty Farty with a total African vibe sums up Bogobiri! I adore this place! It’s rustic and oh so unique! Perfect place to catch up over coffee or get some quiet time to yourself and finish that book you’ve been lugging around in your bag for over 2 months now (Yes, that’s me). Bogobiri is a boutique hotel that has an accompanying restaurant and events space. Open Mic Thursdays at Bogobiri are a must go! For you brave ones, sign up to perform!
To set it right from the get go, Bogobiri is more an experience where you soak in all the arts and funk, so with that mind set, don’t expect too much from the food menu and offerings. The furniture and art pieces seem to be placed together to allow you to relax…… somewhat like a spa, but warm and fuzzy. By the way, sometimes, the air-condition in the public spaces don’t work. Just the way it is…. all part of the experience.
So, like i said, don’t expect anything much in terms of food offerings. On the worst days, more than half the items on the menu are not available, but when they do have, do try the Pepper soup. It’s fiery but flavorful. One of the best pepper soup i’ve had.
For Events though, SPOT ON! They know how to hold a good event, so do look out for upcoming acts from their website. Like i said, Open Mic on thursdays is a must go and this is a staple. Don’t bother with the cocktails or wine selection though… Stick to beer and you’ll be happy.
Dopest spot! I Love that they have live music and spoken word nights and its such a great place to meet people. Perfect for the weekends too, Definitely 5 stars all the way!
I grabbed dinner with some friends at BogoBiri House Ikoyi. My first opinion of the place was that it looked like a glorified tree house, like if Salamander and Madiba had a love child..it would be BogoBiri. They had a nice little book area as well as a guy selling African fabrics and kaftans outside. After some navigation, we found the restaurant area and made our orders. The waiter was really nice and quire knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the Goat Meat Pepper soup (1500) with a glass of the house white wine (1500), my friends ordered the Grilled Fish with Chips , the Boiled Yam and stew with Chicken and the Jollof Rice with Grilled Fish.
The food took quite a while to arrive but we were really engrossed in our conversation, I only noticed because by the time my food arrived…I had finished my wine
The pepper soup was really good and spicy..my friends that ordered the grilled fish were not so happy with the way it looked at first but they said it didn’t taste so bad. My friend that ordered the Bolied Yam and Stew with Fried Chicken said he really enjoyed his meal. They usually have live music and poetry on weekends apparently, the restaurant space is quite small although I noticed there was an upstairs area as well.
I loved the ambience, its definitely a must visit whenever I am in Lagos
