Making ice cream from a base mixture, right in front of you, with liquid nitrogen used to instantly freeze the mixture. Totally delicious and creamy. Well, you have to wait a while, but totally worth it. Food 9/10, Service 7/10, Ambience 8/10
Drink: Pina Colada
Starters: Buffalo wings, chilli chicken and plantain salsa
Mains: Jambalaya, Wedges and Chicken Sauce
Dessert: Chocolate Cake with vanilla ice cream
Now down to the nitty gritty. Skillets and Mugs is a 'fine dining' restaurant with a weekly menu and daily specials. There is no arguing the fact that the food is fantastic in this place, however, the dessert options border from delicious and moist (like the chocolate cake), and stale and terrible (carrot cake with very stiff ice cream we had)
Service: Staff are generally friendly, but inconsistent and do not all know their onions. For example, forgetting to put certain items on the bill, and causing a lot of time wastage.
Ambience: the building that houses this restaurant is beautiful, but the decor in the actual restaurant is too plain and takes away from the 'fine dining-ness' that is being offered
Food was really tasty especially the chicken options, however steak was not steak, more like roast beef
Drinks: limited options and were a bit underwhelming- bar tenders fully visible from seats, mixing up carton juice flavours.
Service: the complimentary pop corn was a nice touch, however the waitress was very rude. She got an order wrong, and was very argumentative about it, lying that it wasn't ordered. She finally owned up, but did not apologise after we asked to speak to the manager. Food service was also slow, over 50 minutes waiting for our food to be served
Food 8/10, Service 3/10, Ambience 6/10
This pan Asian restaurant has sure gotten better over time, and keeps getting better. The key word is "consistency". Abuja's first stop for delicious sushi, amazing mocktails, delectable japanese/thai food.
The ambience is exactly what you would expect in a pan asian restaurant, very original, apart from the music which has deteriorated to "tekno and co". Staff are polite and always willing to help, although sometimes lack knowledge of all the meals on the menu.
Haven't tried dessert, so we can't say much about that.
Obviously not an everyday food place, more of a "i need to splurge out" type place.
Food- 9/10.
Service- 7/10.
Ambience 9/10
Can't get over the service. As we entered, we stood a good 5 minutes at least, before we gave up and called the waiter (who was looking at us through a mirror the whole time) to let him know we were actually waiting to be seated. Eventually sat down, we were handed the menu, we had to let the waiter know we were ready to order after waiting 10 minutes.
The drinks (which were good) then took 50 minutes to appear! Food followed shortly after, which looked appetising but was too spicy for us! A lady, who we assumed was the owner, walked past a few times but wasn't warm, but eventually came to ask at the end how the food was, some redemption there. Well trained waiting staff much needed.
Dare we say Abuja's first real mexican food diner.
Chicken wings, beef and chicken tacos, which came with a side salad and rice. Dessert was churros. The churros were actually world standard, so good!! The beef tacos were oh so yummy but we didn't feel the same for the chicken tacos and chicken wings. They were not bad, just not 'great'. The ordering process was pretty straightforward and service was good too!
Amala Coded is a Bukka / Mama Put style restaurant located in wuse 2. Lovely staff, but, the food options were very limited, most items on the menu were not available, shocking, especially for lunchtime. We settled for Amala, with Ewedu and Gbegiri and also Ofada Sauce with rice. The food was actually delicious with an authentic taste. Prices were more reflective of an upscale "bukka" though.
Drinks: watermelon cooler and mixed fruit cocktail. Watermelon cooler was fresh and nice, but, the midsummer punch was most definitely served from a carton.
Food: Beef cheese burger with fries, Shrimp Salad, and the Abracadabra pizza. Food was presented well and the pizza was delicious. Definitely the highlight of our visit. The burger was dry, with no cheese. The shrimp salad was also dry and needed some more dressing. Also have to say, the cutlery are in dire need of an upgrade.
The waiters were attentive and overall the service was good, with a great ambience and reasonable prices.
Drinks were good and not overly sweet
Complementary bread given with olive oil. We had grilled fish, pasta, spicy chicken, grilled chicken, fries and wedges. The Grilled fish was delicious. We chose the make your pasta option and requested alfredo with linguine and spicy chicken. We were given spaghetti, and the alfredo was not creamy. The spicy chicken and grilled chicken were good. The lamb racks were spiced well but very dry and unpalatable. Lastly, the fries and wedges were not crispy
Service: Although service was slow, the waiting staff were very attentive. Warm towels were given before the meal and free WIFI was available. The only downer in terms of service was the fact that we had asked for the lamb to be made medium but the chef said it was only served well done (no flexibility). Nice, clean with an intimate size.
